A nice leathery taste with a citrus/orange brightness. A slight coffee aftertaste appeared after the first third. Retrohale is spicy but not overpowering with a but of nutmeg spice. There's also a nuttiness I can't quite place. Maybe chestnut or pecan. Good draw and burn with nice flavor and aroma. Definitely one of the better Hair of the Dog I've smoked. Wrapper is a dull tan with some Colorado red hue and a slight oiliness. First ash fell off after about an inch and a half. Ash is loose but sturdy enough to hold tight, grayish white with some black lines. The leathery flavor lasted through the whole cigar without much nuance but was very enjoyable start to finish.
Not bad. Medium bodied, a little heavier-hitting than i expected. Leathery and nutty with a slight pepperiness in the retrohale. Dropped 1½" ashes and burn was slightly uneven but overall pretty decent.
Small flaws on the wrapper, little tears and slight discoloration. Fairly tight draw, and a pretty even burn. Bitter with flavors of earth, ash, leather, and black tea with a small note of wood, maybe cedar. I hope that with age the bitterness will subdue but I'm not hopeful that it will get much better with age. Flavors really started popping out in the final third, more hazelnut and wood, turning from cedar to oak notes as well as a bit of molasses.
Started out with a bitterness resembling a Connecticut but quickly developed the full-bodied taste of the Nicaraguan tobacco. The leathery, nutmeg flavor intensified throughout the length of the cigar and provided a very pleasant aroma. A slight pepperiness tingles the sinuses on the retrohale. The strong black coffee paired well with this cigar though a good bourbon might be an even better pairing. No dry-box might have made the draw a little tighter than I like but I've had no construction issues and the burn stayed fairly even with some touch-ups here and there.
