Arturo Fuente

In terms of quick budget Fuentes, this is a decent one. The flavor profile is simple, including earth, coffee, and some pepper. Is a slight resistance to it that ensures it does not burn down too fast, keeping the line even. Decent smoke output as well. A good simple cigar that you don't need to pay attention to.

Definition

This makes for an interesting lancero. The flavor is full of molasses, black pepper, and cocoa. There's a little zing hanging at the back of the palate. The burn for a little wonky but it slowly corrected itself. Smooth draw overall.

Adventura

Always an incredibly smokey Connecticut! Immediate tones of cedar soon blend with a little pepper and vanilla. The draw is clean with an even burn. Decently firm and proper construction. Very consistent cigar.

Saga

This variation of the Short Tales was pretty solid. Right off the bat, the flavor boasted a heavily leather profile, which was soon joined by red pepper on the back of the tongue. The retro introduced more of a savory cooking spice note. The draw was smooth and smoky, while the burn stayed fairly decent.

La Palina

Nearly duplicated review, with almost 2 years of rest. The construction is solid, allowing for a very smoky draw and very clean burn. This brought out flavors of sweet dark chocolate, a subtle touch of earth, and a hint of something spicy.

Underground Cigar

This one is slap full of flavor! The draw has just a touch of resistance, which produces a good amount of smoke. The flavors consist of black pepper, wood, a floral undertone, and savory spice. The burn was very steady as well.

Jake Wyatt

This is a full bodied cigar with surprising intensity. The profile brings out cedar, coffee, red pepper - but that pepper grows gradually the more it burns down. The draw was smooth, the burn was fairly even, and the construction felt solid.

Flavors of earth and leather were paramount for me, both remaining very smooth and balanced. This makes for a straightforward cigar that is rather enjoyable. With a smooth draw, the burn stayed true without any help.

Drop Cigar Club

Last one from my box purchased 2.5 years ago. Still a very consistent review. The profile brings a bite of pepper that smooths down into bread, nuts, and subtle chocolate. Clean construction with a great draw. Veiny appearance that doesn't take away from the overall experience.

La Flor De Zaida

This shorter smoke was full of unexpected flavor. Although the construction seemed soft, the draw remained smooth and consistent. This allowed a profile of flavors including strong nuttiness, leather, and black pepper. That pepper was rather strong on the retro. Smoke output was great, and the burn was fairly decent.

Shared with Nate. Really smooth and creamy

Adventura

A slightly bolder variation to the original. The flavor profile still brings out black pepper, but it is a tad more prominent. The wood tones are now mixed in with some cocoa escences as well. The draw is clean and the smoke is still creamy with an immaculate burn.

Gellis Family Cigars

Repeated review after over a year since the last one. The profile produces notes of coffee and subtle earth with some pepper on the back end. The draw is smooth and the burn stays rather clean. Spongy but clean construction overall.

Eiroa

Repeat review of such a dark oily cigar, with notes reminiscent of dark espresso. There were added notes of black pepper & earth as well. The smoke output was fairly strong, the construction was done very well, and the burn was almost perfect.

Saga

It took a few minutes to really get the tobacco burning. Once it did, a profile of leather, bitter ash, and red pepper appeared. It was a struggle to keep the cigar lit, but when it was, the draw was clean. The flavor profiles mentioned were good, but inconsistently presented due to the poor combustion.

Cigar Bundles of Miami

Much better experience than the first time I tried this blend. The flavor profile was great with subtle sweet tones, hay, and deep spice. Last time, the burn was absolutely uncontrollable. However, this time the draw and burn both stayed very smooth to the end.

Arturo Fuente

Repeated review, a lower cost option and the Fuente line between heavier flagship smoke. The smoke output on this is absolutely insane. The flavor is simpler, mostly of clean tobacco and pepper, keeping a fairly decent burn line.

Cohiba

Fairly consistent review. The flavor is somewhat creamy with notes of leather, cinnamon, and bright spices. The draw is clean and open with decent smoke output. The burn stayed incredibly even, needing no corrections at all. This one rested for 16 months.

JM Patriarch

First time ever smoking this brand, received at PCA26. The appearance is clean and well constructed, with a firm feel. The flavor profile brings out a heavy amount of buttercream with undertones of soft wood and well-aged tobacco. A gradual introduction of baking spices appear in the second half. With a draw that has just a slight touch of resistance to it, the draw is clean with a very even burn line. This one pushed out a ton of smoke as well.

CAO

This is a fantastic variation to the America blend. The profile mixes in dark chocolate and bright cedar with a heavy tone of pepper. The intensity of that pepper on the retro is insane. The box pressed vitola is clean & tight, allowing both a smooth draw and level burn.

Joya de Nicaragua

After sitting for 2 months since acquiring at PCA, it's time to pull this out for the 4th of July! The flavor profile definitely gets your attention, with a mix of sweet cedar and bright red pepper. The intensity of the retro with that pepper will definitely wake you up! Construction is firm, allowing a good draw and very even burn.

Nat Cicco

Pulled this out after 20 months of rest, first time with one. Profile is simple, combining earth and sweet spices, holding true throughout the entire cigar. The draw had just the right amount of resistance to it that enabled a very slow but even burn.

Lampert

Back down into the darker side. The profile consists of dark coffee, sweet chocolate, and plenty of black pepper. The retro holds that pepper but does not get overly intense. Although construction felt a little spongy, the draw was open and the burn stayed fairly decent.

El Viejo Continente

Repeated review, 20 months rest. Bold but smooth cocoa and spice comes through with just a touch of earthiness. The cocoa really presents itself on the retro. There's now a slight bit of nuttiness that appears with the extended rest that did not appear before. The draw is open and smooth, producing a ton of smoke. The wrapper cracked a little bit but did not affect the burn.

EGM Cigars

Received at PCA26, and this turned out to be one phenomenal smoke. I was hesitant at first because it was little spongy, but that had no effect whatsoever on the burn. The draw pulled smoothly with a massive amount of smoke output, which led to a complex flavor profile of sweet bread, white pepper, cedar, and various other spices. The pepper was strongest on the retro.

Privada Cigar Club

This is one interesting cigar! The profile is complex, blending together meaty sweet smoke, citrus notes, and saltiness. The texture of the wrapper and smoke itself are dry and chalky. The draw is just about perfect, but the burn did need a couple corrections.

1689 Cigars

While the other 1689 Brotherhood cigars had decent flavor and came in in the mid to low 80s, this one was like smoking air. There was absolutely no flavor coming across the tongue, but there was a slight bitter aftertaste that resonated on a delay. Otherwise, the construction, draw, and burn were exceptional.

La Flor Dominicana

This is generally a super reliable blend. The profiles produces a mix of leather, sweet tobacco, and a little spice. The veiny appearance tends to be deceiving, as th draw and burn as both very smooth.

Lure Cigars

This turned out to be a great cigar. Dark cocoa, leather, and sweet spice blend together very nicely. There's a dry texture to the wrapper under the fingers. A smooth draw enabled plenty of smoke with a dead even burn. Sweet floral retro.

J. Fuego

Repeat review, 28 months of rest now. This one is rather inconsistent one stogie to the next. It is a dark but smooth profile with deep cocoa and bold coffee notes. The draw was absolutely perfect this time with good smoke. Construction was firm, and the burn was fairly even.
